Following through on a comment he made during a tour of Nationwide Children’s Hospital last year, Ohio Governor John Kasich announced a $2 million award for six children’s hospitals across the state to collaborate on two research projects.
Kasich spoke to the press in the Statehouse, flanked by leaders from Nationwide Children’s, Cincinnati Children’s, Akron Children’s, ProMedica Toledo Children’s, Dayton Children’s and Cleveland’s Rainbow Babies & Children’s hospitals. The state has pledged $1 million for childhood asthma research and $1 million for research on neonatal abstinence syndrome, a term for problems a baby experiences when withdrawing from exposure to narcotics. The funding for pediatric research is a first for the State of Ohio.
